Signage in the workshop keeps falling off, and sealing strips keep shifting out of place. This may not be due to poor rubber magnet quality, but rather mistakes made during installation! We analyzed over 200 cases of failure and identified four critical errors that your workers may be making!
Mistake 1: Directly applying oil to the surface
A certain automobile factory applied rubber magnets to uncleaned sheet metal, and after three days, the entire sheet fell off. Experiments have proven that a 0.1 mm oil film residue on the surface will reduce adhesive strength by 70%. The correct procedure is to wipe the surface with acetone, then preheat the base material with a heat gun at 60°C for 10 seconds.
Wrong 2: Scissors cutting destroys magnetism
A toy factory used ordinary scissors to cut rubber magnets, resulting in the detachment of edge magnetic particles and a 40% decrease in magnetic flux. It is necessary to use an electric knife heated to 180 ℃ for cutting, with a smooth and burr free cut and a magnetic loss of less than 5%.
The accompanying image shows a 3m adhesive-backed rubber ferrite magnetic strip.

Error 3: Adhesion in low-temperature environments
Direct adhesion at -10°C = slow suicide! After installation, the signage in a cold storage facility began to peel off within 24 hours. After switching to a process involving pre-coating with hot melt adhesive and baking with an iodine tungsten lamp, the signage remained firmly adhered even at -20°C. Key data: Construction temperature should be >5°C, humidity <80%.
Wrong 4: Too much glue
Do you think that more glue means stronger adhesion? A certain equipment manufacturer applied epoxy glue to the entire back of a rubber magnet, which caused the entire piece to crack due to stress concentration after curing. Correct glue application method: Apply 3 mm diameter glue dots at 20 mm intervals to increase shear strength by 15%.
The above are the four common mistakes made when installing rubber magnets (magnetic strips). We hope this information is helpful to you.
