N42 is a common grade of sintered neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) permanent magnet material. Depending on temperature resistance, it is divided into N42M, N42H, N42SH, N42UH, etc. With its excellent magnetism and good temperature resistance, it has become the first choice for many customers.


N42 refers to one of the grade series of neodymium iron boron magnets. Specifically, the “42” indicates that its maximum magnetic energy product (BHmax) is approximately 42 MGOe (megagauss-oersteds), which represents the maximum magnetic energy that can be stored per unit volume. Compared to other grades of neodymium magnets, N42 exhibits relatively superior magnetic performance and is suitable for applications requiring higher magnetic field strengths. For example, in small motors, sensors, and speakers, N42 can provide strong magnetic force while maintaining a compact size and lightweight design.

Neodymium iron boron N42 grade offers an excellent balance between magnetic strength and cost. Although higher grades such as N52 offer superior magnetic strength, N42 is relatively low in cost, making it very popular in many applications that require moderate magnetic strength.
