First, the answer: ferrite magnets can indeed be magnetised with multiple poles on a single face. This applies to circular, ring-shaped and square magnets, amongst others. We have sample displays on our website, and I will include product links at the end of this article.
In this type of single-face, multi-pole magnetisation, one face of the ferrite magnet features multiple N and S poles; this face exhibits strong magnetism, whilst the opposite face has virtually no magnetic properties.

Where are single-sided multipole magnetised ferrite magnets typically used?
To my knowledge, they are mainly used in motor control systems, rotary encoders, Hall sensors, smart home appliances and other such fields.
How is single-sided multipole magnetisation achieved in ferrite magnets?
It requires the use of a specific magnetising coil, which is placed in close contact with the end face of the ferrite, as shown in the image below.
