An 8-pole permanent magnet plastic-magnet rotor is a type of magnetic material used in motor rotors. It is produced by combining the magnetic material with a plastic matrix via injection moulding, followed by 8-pole magnetisation using a specialised magnetising fixture, resulting in a rotor circumferential surface configuration of 4n, 4s. Compared to traditional designs where individual magnetic blocks are mounted separately, this monolithic magnet offers advantages such as superior structural integrity, uniform pole distribution and ease of assembly.
In terms of specific materials, 8-pole permanent magnet plastic-magnet rotors can utilise different plastic-magnet materials depending on the motor’s performance requirements; common types include ferrite plastic-magnets and neodymium-iron-boron plastic-magnets. Ferrite plastic-magnets are relatively low-cost and are suitable for motors, sensors and encoders where magnetic performance requirements are not particularly high. Neodymium-iron-boron plastic-magnet rotors offer superior magnetic performance and are particularly advantageous in products where rotor size is limited and higher magnetic flux density is required.
8-pole permanent magnet rotors made from moulded magnetic material can be used to form relatively complex rotor structures directly using moulds.

In practical applications, 8-pole permanent magnet plastic-cased rotor magnets are primarily used in robotic vacuum cleaners, air conditioning fan motors, fridge defrost motors, cooker hoods, and so on.
