Many customers pay more attention to size, magnetic strength, and price when customizing magnets, but easily overlook some precautions during the use of magnets. In fact, whether it is neodymium iron boron or ferrite magnets, improper use can affect product performance and even cause magnet damage. Today, I will talk to you about some important usage details.


Firstly, attention should be paid to collision and fall prevention. Neodymium iron boron and sintered ferrite are both brittle materials, although they have strong magnetic force, they are not as tough as steel. When two magnets are attracted to each other, the impact force is often strong, and the edges and corners are easily cracked, and in severe cases, they may even break directly. Therefore, when installing and retrieving magnets, it is best to use fixtures or partitions to avoid high-speed attraction of the magnets.


Secondly, pay attention to the working temperature. The temperature resistance of magnets made of different materials is not the same. Like ordinary neodymium iron boron, it is generally suitable for working environments around 80 ℃. If this temperature is exceeded for a long time, irreversible demagnetization may occur. If higher temperatures are required, high temperature resistant grades such as H, SH, UH, EH can be chosen. In contrast, sintered ferrite has better temperature resistance and can generally be used for a long time at around 200 ℃, making it widely used in high-temperature environments such as automotive motors and home appliance motors.

In addition, it is also important to take anti-corrosion measures. Neodymium iron boron contains a lot of rare earth elements, and bare magnets are easily oxidized, so surface treatments such as nickel plating, epoxy, zinc, etc. are usually done. If the coating is damaged and left in a humid environment for a long time, rusting, powdering, and other situations may occur. Ferrite is different. It has good corrosion resistance and generally does not require electroplating. Its stability is also better in outdoor or humid environments.


Another easily overlooked factor is the impact of magnetic fields on electronic products. When strong magnetic neodymium iron boron is close to Hall sensors, magnetic encoders, mobile phones, mechanical watches, bank cards and other magnetic sensitive components, interference may occur. Therefore, in product design, the distance between magnets and electronic components should be reasonably planned to avoid affecting the normal operation of the equipment.
