In 2021, China's main sources of NdFeB imports are Japan and Thailand. Among them, Japan's share of imports is 57.09%, Thailand's share is 29.56%, and Taiwan, Malaysia and India also have a small share.
Japan and Thailand are China's neighbors with low transportation costs. Japan is one of the earliest major producers of NdFeB permanent magnets with mature technology. Thailand ranks among the top ten countries in the world in rare earth production and has low labor costs. Therefore, China's NdFeB permanent magnet imports mainly come from the two countries.
