In the field of magnetic materials, injection-molded magnets (plastic-magnetic composites) are a new type of composite magnet formed through the injection moulding process by combining magnetic powder with polymer resin. Combining both plasticity and magnetic properties, they are widely used in products such as magnetic sensors, electric motors and automotive components. Depending on the type of magnetic powder used, injection-moulded magnets are primarily divided into two categories: injection-moulded ferrite magnets and injection-moulded neodymium-iron-boron magnets. Below is an overview of the material composition, physical properties and a comparison of the two.


Injection-moulded ferrite consists primarily of ferrite magnetic powder, combined with binders such as nylon 6 (PA6), nylon 12 (PA12) or PPS resin, and is formed via the injection moulding process.


Injection-moulded neodymium-iron-boron magnets, on the other hand, utilise neodymium-iron-boron magnetic powder combined with binders such as nylon 6 (PA6), nylon 12 (PA12) or PPS resin, and are formed via the injection moulding process.


In both types of injection-moulded magnets, the proportion of magnetic powder generally ranges from 80% to 95%, whilst the plastic matrix accounts for 5% to 20%; the higher the proportion of plastic, the better the mechanical properties, but the magnetic performance will decrease.

If the product requires high mechanical strength, low cost and good temperature resistance, injection-moulded ferrite magnets are a suitable choice. If the product requires high magnetic performance, miniaturisation and a high-precision magnetic field, we recommend using injection-moulded neodymium-iron-boron magnets.
